Changing the Battery in a Traditional StudSensor Stud Finder (with belt clip)

Do NOT unscrew the back of the tool.

This will release the components inside your unit and may cause it to work improperly.

Holding the unit

Step 1

Your device's battery compartment cover doubles as a belt clip. It was designed to be intentionally tight so it wouldn't accidentally pop open during normal usage. Grasp the unit by the sides of the handle or the base. (If you hold down on the belt clip, you won't be able to remove it.)

Pushing up on the tab

Step 2

Using your other hand, press the lip of the battery cover up about 1/16 inch. If you find it difficult to lift the lip of the battery cover with your thumb, try using a flat tip screw driver. Place the screwdriver under the lip and push up to unsnap the cover from the handle.

The tap is lifted and the battery cover pops open

Step 3

Once the tab is lifted, the cover will pop open. Slide the battery cover off.

The battery cover is now off

Step 4

If applicable, remove the dead 9-volt battery from the compartment and dispose of it properly. Insert a fresh 9-volt battery into the compartment, terminal side first, matching (+) and (-) terminals from battery to case.

Slide the cover back on, just as it was removed, and snap it securely into place.
