CAMPBELL, Calif., April 25, 2006 — Zircon introduces MultiScanner® i520 OneStep®, one of the newest products to feature its patented CenterVision® technology that finds the center of studs with just one pass.
MultiScanner® i520 OneStep® has four modes to quickly handle every scanning need including:
1) Stud Scan to find wood and metal studs or joists up to 3/4 inches deep
2) Deep Stud Scan to find wood and metal studs or joists up to 1 1/2 inches deep
3) Metal Mode to search exclusively for metal pipes or wire up to three inches deep
4) AC Scan Mode to map out the sub-surface location of hot electrical wires even when they’re encased in plastic conduit
The intelligence of MultiScanner® i520 OneStep® lies in exclusive Zircon® technologies that eliminate guesswork and make home improvement and construction projects fast, easy and flawless – technologies that simplify use and increase utility at the same time. They include:
CenterVision® – finds the center of the stud with OneStep® simplicity. Other wall scanners make users find both stud edges and determine the center for themselves.
Auto Correcting – Most scanners won’t work properly if scanning begins near or directly over a stud. Auto Correcting eliminates this problem by sensing the wall environment up to ten times per second and redirecting the user back to the nearest stud.
The sturdy, unibody design features an ultra-bright LCD display that visually indicates the stud position as well as Zircon’s exclusive SpotLite® Pointing System and an audio signal that sound the alert when the stud center is found. Importantly, MultiScanner® i520 OneStep® also comes with Zircon’s exclusive WireWarning® alert. When in wood or metal scanning modes, this critical warning feature continuously detects unshielded hot electrical wires to help avoid nailing into hot AC, a costly and potentially dangerous mistake. The tool is equipped with non-marring pads to protect delicate wall finishes.
“Since Zircon invented the first electronic stud finder more than 25 years ago, the company has set the gold standard for innovation,” stated CEO John Stauss. “As we continue the roll-out of tools with CenterVision® technology that find the center of studs with just one pass, we’re simplifying home improvement tasks by making tools that do the work for you.”
MultiScanner® i520 OneStep®, with an anticipated MSRP of $49.95, will be available in the fall at leading home centers, hardware stores and professional outlets.
