- Check and replace batteries in smoke, carbon monoxide, and water detectors every 6 months.
- Prepare emergency kits for adults, children, and pets.
- Place shoes and kits near/under beds for easy access.
- Securely mount furniture and any objects that can fall or block entry/exit ways.
- Identify and label your circuit breaker box for emergency power shutoffs.
- Keep devices like phones and battery packs regularly charged.
- Have essential tools like flashlights, radios, and batteries in an easy-to-access location.
- Have enough water for each person and pet in the family.
- Stock canned goods and other non-perishable items (don’t forget the can opener!).
- Store important documents and tools in a portable case for safe and easy transporting.
Bonus Tip! Post a list of your local emergency contacts (in addition to 911) so it’s readily available!
