CAMPBELL, Calif., April 17, 2007 — Zircon’s brand-new MetalliScanner® m40 solves the very difficult problem of finding studs in lath and plaster walls; it works by identifying the pattern of nails that attach the wooden lath to studs. And that’s just the beginning! Its patent-pending, wide-field and pinpoint scanning capabilities offer a real advance in metal scanning convenience and ease of use. One-button simple, this is a tool anyone can use.
MetalliScanner® m40 is the first dedicated metal detector under $50 that locates ferrous (magnetic) metal up to four inches deep and non-ferrous (non-magnetic) metal up to two inches deep. In addition to locating studs in lath and plaster by detecting nail patterns, MetalliScanner® m40 quickly and easily locates metal plumbing, ductwork, rebar, nails and screws in non-metallic surfaces such as drywall, paneling, tile, stucco, plaster, and even concrete. For green construction or woodworking projects that often use reclaimed lumber, finding embedded metal before sawing or planing is critical and MetalliScanner® m40 can do that too.
MetalliScanner® m40 is also the only metal detector that has both wide-field and pinpoint scanning capabilities. Its patent-pending design includes a translucent blue metal-detecting coil, along with two scanning positions, each with a progressive LED display, to facilitate both wide-field and pinpoint scanning. For wide-field scanning, the blue coil is held with full contact against the surface that is being scanned. For pinpoint scanning, used to detect the exact location of small objects such as nails and screws, the tip of the coil is held against the surface.
As the tool approaches a metal object, red LEDs progressively light from the bottom up. As the LEDs illuminate progressively to the top, it alerts the user that the tool is nearing a metal object. The top green light, blue coil, and audio tone will come on when the target is reached.
“As with all Zircon® products, MetalliScanner® m40 is a professional-quality tool that melds elegantly simple operation with the latest in technology,” stated Zircon CEO John Stauss. “This sophisticated simplicity makes the MetalliScanner® m40 perfect for everyone from the beginning DIYer to highly skilled construction professionals.”
MetalliScanner® m40, retailing for $39.95 (USD), will arrive this summer at leading home centers, and hardware stores. All Zircon® tools come with a limited, one-year warranty. To locate a store near you, call Zircon toll-free at 1-800-245-9265 or visit www.zircon.com.
