The Zircon® SuperScan® K1 advanced stud finder is tuned to find wood studs while filtering out metallic false positive objects, such as plumbing, conduit, straps, brackets, or ducts, hidden behind surfaces. The LoLevel® Detector signals to the presence of dangerous, deep, and less dense false positive targets, reducing the chance of accidentally drilling into objects such as plastic pipes.
The SuperScan® K1 offers two distinct detection modes – TC™ and StudScan. The ColorTrip® Display conveniently details information. The screen will illuminate blue in TC™ mode and indicate the center, edges, and direction of wood studs while also enabling the user to identify clean, 'safe-to-drill' zones by utilizing the new 'Trust but Verify' technique. When TC™ mode is off, the tool will perform in StudScan mode indicating the center, edges, and direction of both wood and metal studs. The Target Spotlight illuminates on screen and the SpotLite® Pointer shines on the surface being scanned when the center of a stud is found.

I purchased this unit to replace an older Zircon stud finder that I purchased in 1996. This one is far superior and found the studs immediately.
Not very good. Unit is not reliable in finding wiring. Not pleased, I wish I could return it as I have never used it other than to test it.
It has been several years since I tried an electronic stud finder. I expected technology to advance. Well, it has not. I spent a significant amount of time reading and viewing usage protocols plus using the different modes. The unit did not exceed identifying studs greater than 30% of the time. I am certain of this statistic because of the correlation to using a magnet and plumb line and actually being able to see studs when testing this unit. Will wait a few more years before trying again or stay with using a magnet.
I own 3 or 4 older zircon stud finders and the K1 is the least effective by a wide margin.
The hype was considerably greater for the K1 than the performance. I was looking forward to a scanner that actually worked well - but I was disappointed. Too many false readings.
